ABOUT THE EVENT

Neurodegenerative diseases-

Is there a t(h)reat?

We are delighted to invite you to attend the Workshop on “Brain: Progress and Challenges in Neurodegenerative Diseases”. The Workshop will be held on December 11, 2017 at the Goulandris Natural History Museum, Athens. Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases are the most prevalent neurodegenerative diseases that generate important health-related direct and indirect socio-economic costs. They are characterized by severe neuronal losses in several disease-specific brain regions associated with deposits of aggregated peptides and proteins. This workshop will highlight recent progress and advances in the understanding of the pathogenesis of these diseases, with a focus on the underlying mechanisms of protein aggregation, and some of the most promising therapeutic strategies currently in development for those incurable neurodegenerative disorders.
